Property description

The new extension at the St. Elisabeth Hospital in Straubing sets a clear benchmark for contemporary healthcare. The building blends harmoniously into the existing layout of the hospital grounds, creating an open and welcoming environment. With additional capacity for cardiology, neurology, and the intensive and intermediate care units, the new building further supports core medical disciplines. This means the hospital is perfectly positioned to guarantee the highest standards of treatment safety and quality for the future. Modern facilities, well-thought-out architecture, and a pleasant setting offer comfort to patients and visitors – while providing staff with optimal conditions for their daily work.

The challenge

Designers and operators faced the task of balancing the rising demand for inpatient care beds with a modern, hygienically safe drinking water supply. Particular attention was paid to preventing hygienic risks caused by elevated cold water temperatures in areas with high heat loads, alongside the structural integration of efficient, compact technical solutions into the new building.

The solution

KEMPER mastered the challenge with its KHS CoolFlow, the innovative system for active cold water cooling, designed as a cold water circulation system. Combined with cold water balancing valves, the cold water cooler with integrated control system ensures the temperature is maintained at < 20°C, thereby safeguarding drinking water hygiene within the cold drinking water supply. The clear planning approach, combined with product-specific expertise, strengthens our position as a reliable industrial partner in the healthcare sector.

"Thanks to KHS CoolFlow, we can supply the new extension with a continuous flow of safely temperature-controlled cold drinking water – all with minimal space requirements and a manageable installation effort in the technical area."
