KTS Water Heaters

Direct DHW stations as cascade units from KEMPER

KEMPER direct DHW stations

Hygienic, efficient, well thought-out

KEMPER direct DHW stations are the safe solution for energy-efficient and hygienic hot water heaters. Unlike storage solutions, they heat the water as and when required. This provides reliable protection against stagnation and ensures superior water quality.

Whether in healthcare facilities, blocks of flats, hotels or public buildings, with the right equipment, you can set your sights on technology that complies with standards and well-thought-out designs.

Your advantages at a glance:

  • Maximum hygiene: No tank, no storage, no stagnation – ideal for legionella prevention
  • Energy efficient: Hot water is only prepared when required
  • Flexible use: suitable for every type of building (small and large properties, new build and refurbishment, private and public use)
  • Simply controlled: Intelligent technology ensures constant temperatures
  • Quickly installed: Compact, easy to connect, and low-maintenance
  • Refurbishment and new build: Versatile and suitable for all types of projects
  • Digitally networked: With live data and analysis functions

How does a direct DHW station work?

Direct DHW stations prepare domestic hot water using the continuous flow principle – in other words, exactly when it’s needed. When a tapping point is turned on, cold drinking water passes through a plate heat exchanger, where it is heated directly. The energy required for this comes from a separate buffer tank, which is supplied via the heating system. A sensor continuously measures the volume of water required. Temperatures are measured on both the cold and hot water sides at the same time. An intelligent control system precisely adjusts the circulation pump’s output to meet current demand. This ensures that the desired water temperature is always available – even when usage fluctuates.

The domestic hot water itself is not stored. This minimises the risk of bacteria growth and meets the highest hygiene standards. Unlike traditional hot water tanks, there are no standstill periods during which bacteria such as Legionella could proliferate.

Modern direct DHW stations also facilitate the energy-efficient recirculation of heating return water that has not cooled down significantly. Depending on its temperature, the return water is directed to the optimum storage zone via an electronically controlled valve. This maintains the temperature stratification in the storage tank and increases the efficiency of the heat generator – especially when used together with renewable energy.

If demand is higher, several stations can be connected in series to form a cascade unit. This means that even high flow rates can be supplied in a way that meets the high simultaneous use of fixtures and is hygienically safe.
